Bioware, developer of Star Wars: The Old Republic has announced that Players can play the game up to level 15 for free. I remember that the Blizzard has used this strategy before. The old saying is “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em”. The announcement of the Bioware will take effect from this coming July. I guess this is an attempt to try to save a failing game.
This strategy can bring both money and subscribers for the game. SWTOR is emulating the World of Warcraft which has adopted such measures to bring new players. World of Warcraft is regarded as the free-to-play model. A new update of the game will be conducted. A new world called Makeb will be added in the game. Players can take new quests and explore the new planet. New tasks and new tasks are attractive for the old players.
I am not surprised in this news because there is another big surprise. Bioware has to contend with new challenge now. There is a steadily declining server load. The game cannot endure a heavy load. The game developer must worry about it. Less load lead to less players. Bioware is familiar with this course of action. Warhammer online is a game with a small base of players. It went to a level up fast. It is unbelievable that the big MMO is struggling to keep players interested.
